Data Conversion and Database Conversion
We develop a conversion script to transfer our client's data into the ProLink database. This conversion script is created during the beginning of the development cycle. This allows the client to view their data in the prototypes created through the development process, making it easier for them to visualize the use of the system in their business, and reducing the time required for client input and guidance.
Later in the project, the data is taken from the production systems for parallel testing to verify accuracy. When it's time to go into production, the conversion script is run one last time and all of the historic data is incorporated into the new system. There is no conversion cost to move the data from the legacy system to the new system. Since the conversion costs associated with new software can many times outstrip any other single cost of the implementation, this technique results in considerable savings.
Other cost benefits of this methodology include the familiarity of the end users with the solution, due to our technique of automating their business process, rather than forcing them to adopt a new system. This includes their management reports, workflow, tasks, documents, spreadsheets and data. ProLink Documents allow clients to use their existing spreadsheets and documents to continue to complete their work with familiar tools, while the system automates data collection and populates these various documents. This reduces redundant data entry and increases accuracy. Using the ProLink Framework, user adoption is significantly increased, learning curves are reduced, and major efficiency gains are achieved.
